Afrigator gets Bigger and Faster!
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to the Afrigator RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Over the last few weeks we’ve been involved in a process of migrating Afrigator to new servers hosted in the US and it’s safe to announce that this migration is now complete. A part of this process has been to split the website up into various segments so as to optimise speed and performance.
Prior to this move Afrigator was hosted on one dedicated server in Germany and we’ve had many performance issues in the past that has affected the overall user experience. As of now Afrigator is now running off four dedicated servers and we’ve split the website content, statistics and feed parsing up into three separate systems.
This now means that the main website is faster and more efficient and all our statistics now run independently from the main system. The benefit of this is that sites carrying the Afrigator tracking code will notice a faster load time on their website and the two systems don’t clog each other up any longer.
All our content parsing (i.e. when we pull your blog posts into Afrigator) is now done on its own server and once again this has vast performance improvements across the entire site.
Our new hardware improvements and system optimisation has resulted in faster loading times of the website and we now have a system that is scalable for growth.

I would like to introduce a new Nigerian writer to the whole world! His name is Eghosa Imasuen and his new book, To Saint Patrick, was recently published by Farafina, Lagos. Publishers of acclaimed writers like Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Sefi Atta, Chris Abani etc. To Saint Patrick rewrites Nigerian political history, presenting the reader with a series of ‘what ifs’: what if Major-General Murtala Mohammed had survived the 1976 attempt on his life, and had run for a 2nd term?; What if Babangida was simply on the sidelines—an honourable gentleman?; What if our democracy was healthy?A beautifully written tale of adventure, sci-fi, intrigue, and a dash of love, To Saint Patrick is a must read.
To Saint Patrick is available in major bookstores, and from Farafina at 25 Boyle St, Onikan, http://www.kachifo.com or on Amazon. Its recommended retail price is N1000.
