We’re hiring a PHP Developer

Afrigator, Africa’s largest social media aggregator and directory, and a subsidiary of MIH Internet Africa, has a vacancy for a PHP Developer to start 1 April 2009. This is the second job we’re advertising, the first being Online Ad Sales Executive.

Main Purpose of the Job:

The successful candidate will assist the Technical Manager in all development processes including the development of new products and maintaining and supporting existing ones.

Job Outputs

  • Fix Major & Minor Bugs for products in Production
  • Develop Minor Enhancements for products in Production
  • Obtain Technical Knowledge and research
  • Perform Alpha Testing on new Developments
  • Provide direct support to customers which may include fixing bugs
  • Work unassisted
  • Participate in compiling low-level Solution Design Document

Qualifications, Experience

  • Real enthusiasm for Web technologies
  • If you are self-taught,  show us what you can do
  • A diploma or degree in Computer Science or related qualification is an advantage
  • Experience in MySQL administration
  • Client side experience in HTML, CSS, Javascript etc
  • Experience in XML related technologies (REST, WSE, XSD, etc)
  • 2+ years development experience
  • 1+ years working with open-source web and mobile application development

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to thrive under tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and work well in teams (there is no “I” in Afrigator)

    You might get more responses if you specify a salary range. Judging by the low experience requirements I’d be too expensive, as much as I’d love working on consumer web tech.
