Country Close Up – Egypt
If there’s anyone to blame for my fascination with Egypt, it’s Wilbur Smith. Hang on – it’s simpler than you think: Smith did a three book series entitled the Egyptian novels. After reading Wilbur Smith’s Egyptian novels I fell in love with the ancient Egyptian culture and Egypt as a country. And so it is that today we journey to a slightly more modern version of the jewel in the North.
In the wake of their performance at the confederations cup and the upcoming 2010 World Cup, Egypt and particularly their footballers have been in the media quite a bit recently which renewed my interest in Egypt. Â So, without any further ado, here’s Egypt!
