Are you mobile ready? Then tell us.

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to the Afrigator RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

As you all would know, we recently re-launched our mobile site at http://m.afrigator.com. New and Improved as they say :P Thing is, at the moment we mobilify your content on our mobile site. In other words, we render your content to display correctly on mobile devices. The reason for this is that it is hard for us to know if a site is or isn’t mobile ready.

That is why we need you to tell us. If you have a mobile version of your site, please tell the Gator so he can redirect the traffic to you. Here is how:

Log in and go to your dashboard.
Edit your blog’s settings.

Select the option at the bottom of that form so that it is ticked. (The option that says “My blog is mobile ready”)

Save it, and you’re done. We’ll redirect the traffic your way.

If you use Wordpress.com, please do this as Wordpress.com blogs are all already mobile ready. If you run your own installation of Wordpress, you’ll probably have to install a plugin such as MobilePress.

Afrigator goes Mobile(er) and other great news

It’s been another great week for us here at the Gator Pen. We’ve got some cool new brands on Adgator (more on that later) and a new Afrigator feature to share with you.

Afrigator’s been buzzing with activity lately, with loads of tweets, pictures and blog posts being indexed. As I write this, there are currently 6520 blogs being indexed by Afrigator, and the number is climbing every day! If you know of a cool blog and you’d like to get the word out, please ask them to get their blog on Afrigator. It’s one of our goals to index every blog in Africa and spread the voice of African bloggers.

Afrigator on Brand Channel
I’ve been following Brand Channel for about the last 2 years or so. I’ve always found them to be great source of insight and information.

Recently, Brand Channel did a feature article on your favourite Gators, yup – we graced the pages this month.

Here are some of the nice things they had to say about us:
“In a world overloaded with information, Internet users are looking for solutions that offer filtering, relevancy and make sense of the tsunami of content available online. This is where Afrigator fills the gap with its intelligent content-filtering with a strong African accent.”

iPhone, iPod Touch mobile site launched

At the beginning of the month we launched our next version of the Afrigator Mobile website and I’m pleased to announce that we’ve just launched an optimised version for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch.

Afrigator on the iPhone and iPod Touch

If you’re an iPod Touch or iPhone owner you can now get all the latest Blogs, Podcasts, News and Videos direct on your device and as with our standard mobile version all you have to do is visit Afrigator.com. Our browser detection software will pick up what device you’re accessing the site with and will automatically redirect you to the appropriate location.

You can view more screenshots of the website over here.
